Questions To Ask Your Wedding Vendors

Planning a wedding can be an overwhelming task, with countless decisions to make and details to coordinate. From choosing the perfect venue to picking out the right flowers and decor, there are many factors that go into creating your dream wedding day. One of the most important aspects of your wedding planning process is selecting your vendors – the talented professionals who will bring your vision to life. When meeting with potential wedding vendors, it’s essential to ask the right questions to ensure that you are making the best choices for your special day. Here are some key questions to ask your wedding vendors during the interview process!

1. Experience and Portfolio:

How long have you been in the wedding industry?

Can you provide examples of past weddings you have worked on?

Do you have a portfolio of your work that I can review?

What is your approach to weddings and how would you describe your style?

By asking about their experience and seeing their portfolio, it gives you a good idea of how they work and what you can expect from them on your day.

2. Availability and Services:

Are you available on my wedding date?

What services do you offer? (photography, videography, catering, etc.)

Do you have a team that will be assisting you on the day of the wedding?

Will you be the one personally working on my wedding, or will it be someone else from your company?

Of course you want to make sure they’re available on your wedding day, but you also want to make sure they give you a breakdown of their services. The logistics of how they operate and what’s included is important to be aware before making a decision!

3. Pricing and Packages:

What is your pricing structure and what is included in your packages?

Do you require a deposit to secure your services, and what is your payment schedule?

Are there any additional fees or expenses that I should be aware of?

Do you offer any discounts or incentives for booking multiple services with your company?

Nailing down a firm price is crucial. The last thing you want is unexpected fees coming up that you didn’t budget for, so asking for a pricing breakdown or seeing their packages for their services is super important!

4. Contracts and Policies:

Do you have a contract that outlines your services, terms, and conditions?

What is your cancellation policy?

Do you have a backup plan in case of an emergency or unforeseen circumstances?

How far in advance do I need to book your services?

Contracts are extremely important, they protect both you and the vendor your working with. Always read through any contracts and policies carefully so there aren’t any surprises later on. If anything make you uncomfortable, don’t sign. And make sure any vendor you hire has clear policies in place that align with what works for you.

5. References and Reviews:

Can you provide references from past clients that I can contact?

Do you have online reviews or testimonials that I can read?

Have you worked at my chosen wedding venue before, and if not, are you familiar with it?

Reading reviews is a great way to see how other people’s experiences with them have gone. Be sure to investigate and find as many reviews as possible, and if they have any references be sure to reach out with questions!

6. Collaborations and Coordination:

Are you willing to collaborate with other vendors that I have already booked?

How do you prefer to communicate and coordinate with other vendors?

Will you assist with creating a timeline or schedule for the wedding day?

Do you have any recommendations for other vendors or professionals that you have worked with in the past?

Chances are you’ll be hiring multiple people to help you with your wedding, so making sure they are willing to collaborate with other vendors is important. By hiring a wedding planner, they can help alleviate the coordination part of the planning and communicate with the vendors on your behalf!

By asking these important questions and taking the time to thoroughly research and interview your wedding vendors, you can feel confident that you are making informed decisions that will help bring your dream wedding to life. Remember, choosing the right vendors can make all the difference in creating a memorable and stress-free wedding day! So take your time while choosing, and don’t rush into any decisions you don’t feel 100% confident in. Start planning way ahead of time to give yourself plenty of space not to rush. And hopefully, these questions to ask your wedding vendors will help you choose the perfect ones!

Kind Words

“Where do I begin?! Brit was an absolute joy to work with for our wedding. Her energy, talent, and creativity is unmatched! My family is now obsessed with her (as am I) and in the words of my mom, she’s a photo-taking “ninja.” We will cherish the moments she captured on our wedding day forever and I cannot wait to work with her again! Truly a gem.” -Tara
